Strangers in a “Virtual” Room
This data visualization installation features a grid of speakers arranged in a matrix, creating a three-dimensional space with sound. The speakers read aloud posts from social media platforms, organized by sentiment and mapped across the matrix. As observers move through the space, speakers are activated, broadcasting posts related to their proximity. The volume and frequency of voices are determined by the intensity of sentiment surrounding each topic. Interaction with the installation influences its volume, with increased engagement leading to a louder cacophony, reflecting the chaotic nature of online discourse and ideological polarities.
